How long does your team really take to reply?
Most tools ask you to estimate this. Estimates are generous. This one measures it: verify you control your domain, and we send a single realistic enquiry to an address on it, then time the first human reply.
Auto-replies are recorded but do not stop the clock. "We received your message" two seconds later is not a response time.
Step 1: your domain
Company domains only. We will never send to a domain you have not proved you control.
What this actually does
- ·Sends one email, to an address on a domain you verified, and never more than one test per domain per day.
- ·The enquiry is a plausible question, not a trick. It discloses what it is and how to stop it.
- ·Measures time to first human reply. Auto-responders are noted separately.
- ·Stores a short excerpt of the reply, with quoted history stripped. Never the full message.
- ·No sales follow-up to whoever replies. They did not ask to hear from us.
Grade bands are anchored to the Drift 2017 secret-shopper study of 433 B2B SaaS companies: median first reply 42 hours, 55% no reply at all. It is the only sourced B2B baseline we have; Drift has since taken the original offline.
How the test works
What you give it
A company domain you control, a DNS TXT record on that domain to prove it, and the address the enquiry goes to. The address must be on that domain. Free email providers are not accepted. We check the record again at the moment we send.
What you get
The time from our send to the first human reply, and a grade: Elite in five minutes or less, Strong in an hour or less, Average in eight hours or less, and Slow in 48 hours or less. If no human reply arrives in 48 hours, the result is No response. You also see who replied, the subject line, and a short excerpt of the reply.
What it cannot see
Your website form. The enquiry goes straight to the address you give, so the test does not show what your form does, how leads are routed, or who owns them. It is also one enquiry at one time of day, so the result is one sample, not an average. The Inbound Path Check reads the public form side.
Cost
Free, with no account. We store the domain you verified, the IP address that started the test, the address we wrote to, and the time and first lines of the reply.
